Ø Competence Standard

To express the meaning of short functional text and monologue text in the form of recount, narrative and procedure in the daily life.
Ø Basic Competence

To express the meaning of simple monologue in the form of recount, narrative, and procedure, using oral language accurately, fluently, and acceptable.

Ø Indicators

At the end of lesson, students are able to:

1.      Mention the purpose of recount
2.      Identify the generic structure of recount
3.      Write a simple recount text

Ø Goal

·         Students are able to write the recount text and post it in their blog
·         Students are able to use blog in doing their assignment

An Excursion to Bogor Botanic Garden

   All right, everybody, I’ll tell you about this great place.
On Friday 16 March we went to Bogor Botanic Garden. We went there by bus and we arrived at that famous garden at 10 o’clock.
     Arriving at the garden, we were divided into two groups. Group A followed Mrs. Nina and Group B followed Mr. Ahmad. I was in group A. Well, first we went to odd tropical plants and Mrs. Nina read us some of the information. Then, we looked at all the lovely plants. After that, we went to a little spot near the Raffles cemetery and had morning tea. Next, we did some sketching and then we met group B at the information center to have our lunch.
         Soon, it was time for us to go to the orchid section while Group B did some research on flowers. Hum…A lady led us to the orchid section. Then, she explained about many kinds of Orchids.
      Next, we had a look at the Indonesian orchid. Wow, we saw many kinds of Indonesian orchids. They were all beautiful. Later, we took a look at the American, European and Asian orchid’s section. I was interesting. Soon after we had finished our observations, we went back outside and met group B. Then, we got on the bus and returned to school. We really enjoyed the trip and to Bogor Botanic Garden.

    • Pre Activities  (10’)
1.      Teacher opens the class by praying together with students.
2.      Teacher asks about the students' condition.
3.      Teacher reviews the last lesson
4.      Teacher asks simple question related to the lesson today that teacher is going to teach to build students’ curiosity.
5.      Teacher distributes handout to the students.


·         Main Activities (70’)

1.      Teacher gives explanation about recount text, including the meaning, the purpose of the text, language features, generic structure of the text, and how to use it.
2.      Students read the example of the recount text from the handout and try to understand it.
3.      Students identify the purpose, generic structure, and the language features in the text.
4.      Students write the recount text by using computer, max 4 paragraphs.
5.      While students do their task, teacher creates a blog for that class.
6.      Students decorate or beautify their writing by adding pictures, edit the font, and make it as attractive as possible that they can do. (If students are still confused to decorate, they can ask teacher or their friend).
7.      After students finish their task, teacher explain about the blog that will be used by students for that class.
8.      Teacher give the email and password of class’ blog to the students.

·         Post activities : (10')

1.      Teacher asks the students to submit their writing by attach it to the class’ blog. (including the name of the student)
2.      Teacher asks the students' difficulties when doing task.
3.      The teacher summarizes the lesson.

In the second meeting I knew and learned something new that I have not known before. That’s all about general ability of teaching for teacher in a classroom. First, teacher should master the material that she/he wants to teach. The goal of this ability is to avoid misconception or misunderstanding concept will be taught by the teachers. Another goal is to make teachers are not accustom to hand book. It means when teachers are teaching something in front of the class, they do not depend on their hand book, so they pay attention to their student.
 Second ability is that teachers should be attention to their personality. Their clothes must be tidy. They must not wear over clothes and accessories. They also should look like friendly to students, enthusiastic, and energetic.
Third ability is that teachers can build relationship with others or students. It’s all about class management. It means that teachers should be attention the time management. Teachers should manage learning process in efficient time when it is happening. Another is that teachers should manage situation and condition inside the classroom. Teachers should try to create a good atmosphere inside the classroom so that students can enjoy the class.
Besides the ability, I also learned the part of teaching. First is to open the lesson. In this opening, teacher can greet the students, begin with a pray, recall the last material, etc. Second is main teaching. In this part, teacher explains what the material will be taught. For the further understanding, teacher gives students tasks to do or asking questions. At the last, students will answer the question and teacher responds it. The third and the last are to close the lesson. Here, teacher concludes what students have learned for that day, greet the students and close the lesson with praying.
I think that is a good thing that I know. All the points above are important to me if I want to be a good teacher

GREEN TEA

GREEN TEA

1.      Summary

Green tea is made with the leaves of Camellia sinensis, which is rich in flavonoids, saponins, polyphenols and beneficial tannins and also in antioxidant compounds. The leaves of Green Tea are either steamed or subjected to low levels of dry heat after harvesting. If we talk about the origin, green tea originated from China and has become associated in Asia, especially in Japan and South Korea. Because of many countries consumed it, green tea has been subjected to many scientific and medical studies to determine the extent of its long-purported health benefits. For example: Green tea has an antioxidant effect within the human body. It means that antioxidant substances help to 'mop up' these unstable free radical molecules. Besides, green tea is against cancer in the human digestive, reducing elevated cholesterol levels, providing antioxidant protection against free radical damage, helping to lower high blood pressure, and against bacterial gum infections such as gingivitis.

The connection between the article and the topic is that the article talks about the meaning of green tea and the benefits of it. From this article, we can see further explanation about what is green tea itself. Besides, this article talks clearly about the positive points of green tea. Of course, it’s about the benefits of green tea which exist in several paragraphs.

3.      Good Things I Learn from the Article

Good things I learn from the article that article gives me deeper information about what is green tea and benefits of green tea. Here, I know that green tea contains of antioxidant which is useful for human body and also used in Medical. We can see the benefits of green tea on the polyphenol substances within Green Tea, which help to block enzymes in the body that produce toxic substances and may help to prevent the mutation of healthy cells into cancer cells. From that example, I can see that green tea gives a significant protective effect against cancer in the human digestive tract. It means that green tea can prevent some serious disease.
